THE ZOE TYNAN FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
The Zoe Tynan Tournament is an annual girls’ football tournament held in Merseyside in memory of England U-19 international Zoe Tynan. Organised by Liverpool Feds in collaboration with Zoe’s family, the tournament brings together young players across multiple age groups while raising funds for mental health and charity organisations.
Event photography and video were commissioned to document the day as it unfolds, focusing on atmosphere, connection and participation rather than competition. The intention of the work is to reflect the tone of the event: supportive, inclusive and rooted in care.
Coverage centres on the spaces between the football. The work captures players arriving, families watching from the sidelines, teams spending time together and the wider sense of community that surrounds the tournament. Attention is given to gestures, interaction and moments of support, rather than goals or match results.
Creating a visual record of a day built around people.
Capturing community, remembrance and shared purposeWhere creativity meets clarity, and vision meets action.
Alongside photography, short-form video was produced to support the organisers’ wider communication, allowing the message of the tournament to extend beyond the day itself. The combined work reflects the balance the event holds, intentionally fun for the players taking part, while also acting as a meaningful tribute.
